Lancia is Bringing Back Its Most Legendary Model | Carscoops
The upcoming HF Integrale models are expected to include electric or hybrid powertrains.
Lancia is reintroducing the HF Integrale badge with its future Gamma and Delta models.
This modern performance hatch may utilize the electrified powertrain found in the Ypsilon HF.
For years, Lancia struggled as one of Europe's least successful car brands, offering a minimal lineup and experiencing almost no sales beyond Italy. Its outdated third-generation Ypsilon managed to survive for 14 years before being replaced last year. Now, under Stellantis, the brand is demonstrating signs of resurgence. A high-performance Ypsilon HF has just been launched, but there is something even more thrilling on the horizon.
In a press release earlier this week related to the debut of the Ypsilon Rally6 race car, Lancia discreetly announced plans to resurrect what is arguably its most legendary nameplate: HF Integrale. Since the project is still in its infancy, Lancia's announcement lacked detailed information, but it confirmed that the name will be used for the new Gamma and Delta.
“HF will become the defining characteristic of all high-performance variants in the new Lancia lineup,” the automaker stated, “starting with the Ypsilon model and soon to debut in 2026 on the upcoming Gamma and Delta under the ‘HF Integrale’ designation.”
Integrale, But Different
Crucially, the HF Integrale versions of the new Gamma and Delta will not replicate the original Delta HF Integrale. In its first-generation form (not including the subsequent version), that car gained fame in the World Rally Championship, powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. In contrast, the new Delta is anticipated to be an electric vehicle, which may disappoint some traditionalists.
According to a report from Autocar, the new Delta will be a counterpart to the Vauxhall Mokka and is expected to utilize Stellantis' CMP platform. While this architecture accommodates both internal combustion and electric powertrains, only high-performance EVs, like the new Lancia Ypsilon HF and the Peugeot e-208 GTI, have been launched so far.
If the Delta HF Integrale uses the same configuration, it will likely be equipped with a single electric motor generating 280 horsepower and 245 pound-feet of torque.
Regarding the Gamma, Lancia has not disclosed much information. An HF Integrale version has not yet been revealed, and even the regular model remains under wraps. What is known is that Lancia teased it late last year and confirmed it will be offered as both a hybrid and an electric vehicle. More details are expected as the 2026 launch date approaches.
