It appears that AMG's impressive 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 can be fitted into the engine compartment of the plug-in hybrid C63.

Vuk Manufaktur has dedicated two years to creating the C63 S that Mercedes-AMG should have originally designed.

Though the standard plug-in hybrid powertrain may generate more horsepower, it falls short in replicating the sound of the V8.

There has been no indication from the Austrian company about plans to offer V8 conversions for customers.

It’s well-known that the new Mercedes-AMG C63 S, equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder plug-in hybrid, lacks the appeal of its V8-powered predecessors. While the super sedan boasts 671 hp, some buyers are still hesitant about purchasing a large vehicle with a four-cylinder engine. Now, an Austrian company seems to have the solution.

For the last two years, Vuk Manufaktur has been focused on developing and producing the V8-powered W206 C63 that enthusiasts have been longing for. Their work is complete and resembles what AMG should have executed in the beginning.

Fewer details are available regarding the engine swap, though it certainly wasn’t a simple task. The four-cylinder powertrain, along with all plug-in hybrid components, such as the trio of electric motors, has been removed. Vuk has not disclosed which AMG V8 has been integrated, but it is likely the popular 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 found in numerous AMG models. It’s probable that a seven-speed automatic transmission has been installed to accompany the new V8.

While the new plug-in hybrid C63 S has superior power compared to its predecessors, it cannot replicate their driving experience. Indeed, there are some impressive four-cylinder engines available, but regardless of the headers and exhaust systems used, none can achieve the raw, visceral sound of a V8. Vuk’s version produces a sound that is as formidable as the former C63, making it a true AMG vehicle.

There has been no announcement about whether Vuk intends to offer V8 conversions for sale, but this project demonstrates that it is indeed possible to integrate the 4.0-liter powertrain into the new C63. However, it would undoubtedly be a time-consuming and costly endeavor.
