BMW has unveiled the X7 Nishiki Lounge concept in Japan, which honors Japanese craftsmanship and pays homage to the night sky.
This vehicle features a two-tone exterior, distinctive trim, and a custom center armrest.
The X7 Nishiki Lounge concept stands as a celebration of Japanese craftsmanship, being the newest addition to BMW's lineup of modified vehicles. It embodies the concept of a “relaxing space filled with beauty, where the stars sparkle.”
While the interior reflects this idea, the exterior boasts a BMW Individual Velvet Blue body paired with a Space Silver upper section, symbolizing the “sparkle of nebulae shining in space.” It also includes Crystal Light headlights and an Iconic Glow grille.
Inside, the most significant transformations can be seen, including bespoke foil trim crafted by Rakugei Kobo, resembling a starry night sky. This was produced through a specialized technique using lacquer as an adhesive, with varying amounts of lacquer altering the “shine and color of the foil.”
The striking center console features kuska fabric and a foil effect to evoke the appearance of twinkling stars, and its design gradually narrows as the leather thickness reduces from 4 mm to 2 mm.
Additionally, there are exclusive floor mats designed by Kawashima Selkon, illustrating the universe and created through an “ikat dyeing” method.
Beyond these unique features, the X7 Nishiki Lounge concept is equipped with a Panoramic Sky Roof adorned with 15,000 LED accent lights, along with a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System and exquisite crystal details.
While BMW has not provided performance specifications, this concept likely shares its foundation with the X7 xDrive40d. This suggests it may be powered by a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine delivering 347 hp (259 kW / 352 PS) and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque, capable of accelerating from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.9 seconds for the standard model.
