In January, Hyundai's top-selling model was the Tucson, which sold an impressive 15,025 units.
Other notable models included the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, both of which experienced sales growth.
However, sales of the Kona, Palisade, and Santa Cruz saw declines last month.
While some areas of the automotive industry are facing uncertainty due to changing policies and market dynamics, Hyundai is progressing robustly. The company recorded its best January sales to date, moving 54,503 vehicles in the US last month, marking a strong 15% increase compared to January 2024. This growth is primarily driven by heightened demand for its hybrid and electric vehicles. Hybrid sales surged by 74%, and electric vehicle sales saw a healthy increase of 15%.
Last month’s best-selling model was the Tucson, which achieved 15,025 units sold, representing a substantial 35% increase from the previous year when 11,116 units were sold. The Elantra also performed admirably, with sales of 8,866 units, up by 28%, solidifying its place as Hyundai’s second-best-selling vehicle. Following closely was the Santa Fe, with 8,296 units sold in January, compared to 6,021 in the same month last year.
Strong sales for the Santa Fe and Tucson were supported by growing demand for their hybrid versions, with deliveries increasing by 160% and 89%, respectively. Other strong performers included the Sonata with 4,757 units sold (up 52%), the Ioniq 5 with 2,250 sales (up 54%), and the Ioniq 6 with 871 units sold (up 15%). Sales of the Venue also rose by 11% to reach 1,600 units.

Some Sales Declines
On the downside, not all Hyundai models fared well. Kona sales dropped significantly by 34% from 6,577 to 4,365 units, while Palisade sales decreased by 12% from 7,638 to 6,687. Additionally, 28% fewer Santa Cruz models sold in January, totaling 1,786 units.
“Hyundai is starting the year with record-breaking sales, achieving our best January across multiple models and fuel types,” said Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor North America. “From the impressive retail and overall sales performance of the Santa Fe HEV, Tucson HEV, IONIQ 5, and IONIQ 6 to record-breaking results in HEV and EV sales, the demand for our electrified and ICE products remains incredible.”
