Touring Superleggera has unveiled the Veloce12 Barchetta, based on the Ferrari 550.
It is powered by a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V12, generating 478 hp and 419 lb-ft of torque.
The V12 is paired with a six-speed manual transmission that drives the rear wheels.
A year ago, Touring Superleggera, one of Italy’s renowned coachbuilders, modernized the Ferrari 550 Maranello with the launch of the eye-catching Veloce12. That coupe attracted significant attention, and now the new version has been unveiled. The Veloce12 Barchetta retains the stunning appeal of the original while introducing the excitement of open-top driving.
For the most part, the design of the drop-top 550 Maranello mirrors that of the coupe, but it incorporates several distinctive features. The modifications begin at the front, where the coachbuilder has crafted unique new headlights, each featuring two square lamps encased in carbon fiber.
Convertible Enhancements
The most notable alteration is the addition of a convertible roof, which requires the installation of two leather-wrapped rollover bars behind the seats. Additionally, Touring Superleggera has designed a unique rear cover for the Veloce12. Like the fixed-roof version, the Barchetta also includes new tailpipes and a carbon fiber diffuser.
Similar to the Coupe, the powertrain consists of a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V12, producing 478 hp and 419 lb-ft of torque, as found in the original 550. This power source is connected solely to a six-speed manual gearbox that drives the rear wheels, enabling a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h).
While the engine is standard Ferrari, enhancements include a Supersprint exhaust, adjustable Tractive suspension, and upgraded Brembo brakes for improved performance.
Inside, the Barchetta creates a distinctive atmosphere. The interior, showcased at last weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, is adorned in luxurious brown and cream leather, complemented by custom switches and gauges, reflecting the bespoke craftsmanship central to the project.
The Cost of Exclusivity
Touring Superleggera is producing 30 units of the Veloce12 Coupe, priced starting at $758,000, not including the cost of the donor vehicle. There has been no announcement regarding the number of Veloce12 Barchetta units that will be made or their pricing, but it is reasonable to expect a higher price compared to the coupe.
