Certain New VW Tiguans Might Rattle Due to a Highly Hazardous Issue | Carscoops
The recall occurs just a few months after the all-new 2025 Tiguan was introduced in the US.
VW has recalled 15 Tiguan models due to rear tie rod bolts that were not torqued correctly.
Improper torque settings could lead to the bolts loosening or breaking.
The affected Tiguans were manufactured between April 17 and May 28 of this year.
Some of the initial 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan vehicles that arrived in US driveways are already being recalled to dealerships due to a safety concern regarding a loose rear tie rod bolt that may result in drivers losing control. While VW reports there have been no incidents of crashes, fires, injuries, or fatalities related to this issue, it is still a recall that owners should take seriously.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recall notice, the rear tie rod bolt may not have been adequately tightened during the production process. VW mentions that the upper torque limit set in the programming was surpassed during the tightening process and advises that owners of the affected Tiguan models might hear a rattling noise from the rear.
Recall Details:
A total of 15 vehicles in the United States are affected by the recall, all being 2025 Tiguans made between April 17 and May 28, 2025.
VW became aware of a possible issue on June 18 upon receiving a report of a vehicle in another market with a potentially damaged rear axle. During their investigation, the company discovered that the bolts used for the rear tie rods might loosen or break over time.
Dealerships were informed of the recall on August 15, and owners are expected to be notified by October 10. To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the defective tie rod bolts at no cost to the owners.
The 2025 VW Tiguan was only introduced in the US earlier this year and is expected to be a critical model for the brand. Last year, the outgoing Tiguan was VW’s best-selling vehicle in the US, making it fortunate that this rear tie rod issue affects only a limited number of cars.
