As Mercedes-Benz introduces its new generation of multi-energy platforms, the dedicated EQ series will be gradually phased out. This transition has already commenced with the new compact CLA, which has a shared body design for both its gasoline and battery-powered versions. This trend will apply to all model lines in the company’s lineup.
However, until Mercedes launches its new flagship SUV, the EQS will still be available in the company’s showrooms. Our spies spotted this refreshed EQS SUV undergoing tests on European public roads, covered in camouflage on its front and rear bumpers. Despite the disguise, the company's new three-pointed-star lighting design is unmistakable, mirroring what we've seen on the latest C-Class and other models.
While this update is limited, it’s noteworthy that with the EQ lineup effectively discontinued, any sign of activity is encouraging. Due to the current economic circumstances, there’s a possibility that the updated EQS SUV may not be sold in the U.S. at all, with shipments to U.S. dealers on hold indefinitely starting in September.
