The successor to the DS4, known as the N°4, showcases updated styling, a refreshed interior, and improved powertrains.
Launched on May 14, 2025, the N°4 replaces the existing DS4 and offers customers options for electric, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid powertrains.
DS Automobiles has unveiled the N°4, which serves as a rebranded and updated version of the DS4. Drawing inspiration from the brand’s flagship N°8, this new model significantly departs from its predecessor, featuring design enhancements that elevate its premium appearance while maintaining a familiar look.
At the front, the premium hatchback introduces an entirely redesigned fascia with a sleek grille that lights up, complemented by an illuminated DS logo and revamped daytime running lights. Designers have also created a more dynamic bumper with a visually enlarged lower intake. Additionally, the hood has been extended by 0.5 inches (12 mm) to partially cover the grille.
Moving towards the rear, the model retains a familiar silhouette, with the option of 19 or 20-inch wheels. It also includes a 'floating' roof that can be specified in contrasting black. The changes continue with dark accents and new badging at the back.
A cabin that feels familiar yet enhanced
The interior retains an easily recognizable design, while featuring a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch infotainment system.
Though specifics on the interior were limited, higher-end models come with Alcantara and Criollo Brown Nappa leather, as well as brown ash wood trim. Additionally, options include heated front seats, a wireless smartphone charger, and a 14-speaker Focal audio system.
Regarding storage capacity, the Hybrid variant provides 15.2 cubic feet (430 liters) for luggage, whereas the Plug-In Hybrid offers 12.7 cubic feet (360 liters). The electric version falls in between with a capacity of 13.8 cubic feet (390 liters).
Powertrains tailored for every preference
The fully electric N°4 E-Tense is equipped with a 58.3 kWh battery pack and an electric motor producing 210 hp (157 kW / 213 PS) and 253 lb-ft (343 Nm) of torque, resulting in a WLTP combined range of 280 miles (450 km). A 120 kW DC fast charger can recharge the battery from 20% to 80% in around 30 minutes when it is low on power.
The N°4 Plug-In Hybrid boasts a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor integrated into a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, along with a 14.6 kWh battery that increases the electric-only range by 30%.
In terms of performance, the PHEV generates a combined output of 222 hp (165 kW / 225 PS) and 265 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in 7.1 seconds—0.3 seconds quicker than its predecessor. The hatchback also offers an electric-only range of up to 50 miles (81 km).
For those seeking a more conventional driving experience, the N°4 Hybrid includes a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and an integrated electric motor, resulting in 143 hp (107 kW / 145 PS) and 170 lb-ft (230 Nm) of torque. DS indicated that drivers could expect to operate in “all-electric [mode] for up to 50% of the time during urban use, contingent on traffic conditions and driving habits.”
