Ford’s 51st recall of 2025 occurred prior to the trucks being delivered to customers | Carscoops

Ford found that 18 engine assemblies were improperly inspected, which raises the risk of fuel leaks and has resulted in a recall.

Fortunately, none of the five recalled units appear to be with customers.

Three of the affected models were sent to dealers nationwide.

The issue has been traced back to a tooling fixture changeover at a key supplier.

Several Ford Super Duty models manufactured on March 23, 2025, might have faulty fuel lines and will need to be returned to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for repairs. It’s important to note that gas leaks are especially dangerous, particularly when the fuel line passes through the engine compartment.

Ford has disclosed that adjustments made at a supplier due to a tooling fixture changeover caused misalignment at the hose insertion fixtures in the fuel return line connector workstation. Consequently, the connector, hose, and fixture may be misaligned, which could lead to cracks in the connectors. A fuel leak on a heated engine can result in a fire, posing a significant risk to any F-Series truck.

What is Ford's response? The automaker plans for its dealers to replace the fuel return line assemblies at no cost to the owners.

Fortunately, the recall is limited to just five 2025 Super Duty models produced on March 23. Ford advises that drivers of the affected vehicles might smell fuel or see a check engine light if the fuel return line is damaged.

Ford was first informed about the issue in early March by its supplier. On March 18, the supplier sent a batch of 18 engine assemblies to Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant, which were not inspected for possible fuel line damage. All engines were installed in Super Duty vehicles the following week.

The company later discovered that eight out of these 17 vehicles were shipped out on railcars without inspection. Three of these went to dealers, while five were sent to In-Transit Repair (ITR) dealerships. However, two of the trucks at the ITR dealer remained unaddressed, as did the three sent to dealers. These five vehicles are now part of the recall.
