The 2026 GMC Hummer EV range now features a new Carbon Fiber Edition.
This is the fastest Hummer yet, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds.
Additionally, the EV introduces a new King Crab mode to enhance its maneuverability.
Even the most extravagant EV on the market is receiving updates. For the 2026 model year, the GMC Hummer EV will undergo several minor modifications designed to boost performance, off-road capabilities, and overall refinement. Some enhancements will also be available retroactively to existing owners through over-the-air updates.
Carbon Fiber Edition for Enhanced Acceleration
Among the changes, the limited Carbon Fiber Edition is notable. Offered for both the Pickup and SUV variants, this trim builds on the top-tier 3X model while further enhancing performance. The truck version now accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (0–97 km/h) in just 2.8 seconds, slightly improving from the previous model's claim of “approximately 3 seconds.”
According to GMC, this increase in speed results from refined propulsion calibration, updated software, and some hardware adjustments. The enhanced 3X also features a 24-module battery pack that delivers 1,160 hp (865 kW / 1,176 PS), an increase from the earlier 1,000 hp (746 kW / 1,014 PS).
Visually, the Carbon Fiber Edition is equipped with 22-inch carbon fiber wheels, carbon accents on the mirror caps and skid plates, and an exclusive matte Magnus Gray exterior with black emblems. Inside, it offers a Velocity Ember interior theme. GMC does not specify any actual weight savings from the carbon fiber elements, which are more for aesthetic than functional purposes.
Subtle Updates, Enhanced Technology
Aside from the special edition, the 2026 Hummer lineup does not feature significant styling changes. However, it gains two new exterior color options—Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte—as well as new interior themes: Granite Drift and Stealth Eclipse.
On the technology front, there are more noticeable upgrades. The 13.4-inch infotainment display now allows for a customizable split-view layout, providing drivers with quicker access to essential information. The Super Cruise driver assistance system has also been improved, though specific details on these upgrades are limited.
King Crab Mode Available to All
Another key feature of the 2026 model year is the introduction of the King Crab mode. This function comes standard with the 2X and 3X trims and will be available to all Hummer EV Pickup and SUV owners later this year through an over-the-air update. GMC states that the King Crab mode allows the rear wheels to turn “significantly faster” than the front wheels, improving maneuverability in tight areas and enhancing the Hummer's rock crawling capability.
GMC engineers have also fine-tuned the EV's damper settings, promising a better ride quality. Additionally, all Hummer models are now compatible with bidirectional charging, allowing them to charge another vehicle or power a home during an outage.
Production of the 2026 GMC Hummer EV Pickup and SUV will occur at GM’s Factory ZERO Assembly Center in Michigan. The updated models are anticipated to arrive at U.S. dealerships later this year, with pricing and range details expected to be released closer to the launch, likely by late summer 2025.
