Renters may discover discounts and future upgrades if they find a rubber duck in their Jeep.
Hertz will be placing rubber ducks in select Wrangler 4xe models, offering customers potential savings.
The Wrangler 4xe stands as the best-selling plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in the U.S., equipped with a 2.0-liter engine and dual electric motors.
With summer approaching and many preparing for outdoor activities, Hertz has collaborated with Stellantis to enhance its rental fleet by introducing the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, now available in various major cities nationwide. For some renters, this could mean enjoying the Jeep community’s unique tradition of being "ducked" while driving the vehicle.
The Wrangler 4xe has proven to be a significant success for Jeep, becoming the top-selling plug-in hybrid in the United States. Considering its popularity, it’s surprising that Hertz didn’t include it in their fleet earlier. To make the experience more memorable, Hertz is providing some renters a taste of Jeep ownership that includes the ‘Jeep Wave’ and the charming practice of "ducking."
Hertz indicates that certain renters might find a rubber duck hidden within their Wrangler 4xe at pickup. If you are among the fortunate few, the duck will grant you benefits such as exclusive discounts and complimentary upgrades on future Hertz rentals.
All Wrangler 4xes offered through Hertz will be 2025 models. With a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine and two electric motors, the 4xe produces 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque, delivered through an eight-speed automatic transmission. It can run solely on electric power for up to 21 miles (34 km) and achieves 49 MPG, making it economical for renters as well.
“The Jeep Wrangler is designed for summer,” stated Lucy McLellan, head of North America Marketing Office at Stellantis. “Our partnership with Hertz provides drivers who have yet to experience the benefits of Wrangler-ownership the chance to personally witness the joys of driving on open roads during their summer trips, receiving a ‘Jeep Wave,’ getting ‘ducked,’ and engaging in a community culture that brings happiness to owners and onlookers alike.”
