      The Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Monogram boasts a 577-hp twin-turbo V8 engine.

With logos displayed extensively, this convertible redefines excess in branding.

It is rumored that the SL680 Monogram will be priced at approximately $250,000, which is $65,000 higher than the SL63.

Last year, Mercedes-Maybach unveiled the pinnacle version of the SL-Class, the SL680 Monogram, a vehicle so opulent that it seems to exude wealth. Following a sun-drenched press gathering in Ibiza, Mercedes has now revealed the convertible in two unique versions. If you enjoy driving along the French Riviera with sunglasses on and a heightened ego, this could become your preferred vehicle.

The first model depicted in the images resembles the one revealed last year, featuring a striking Red Ambience color that looks exquisite under the Mediterranean sun. The Obsidian Black Metallic hood showcases 307 Maybach logos and, like other offerings from the Mercedes division, is embellished with numerous chic chrome details, including on the grille, front bumper, side skirts, and parts of the rear fascia.

Next, we have a White Ambience version of the SL680, which also highlights the iconic black hood and dazzling chrome accents. This version comes with distinctive 21-inch wheels featuring a five-hole design. These minor yet noticeable variations cater to discerning buyers who demand customization even in their wheel selections.

      Monogram Overload: Is Less More?

One notable feature in these images is the monogram. Similar to Louis Vuitton items, Maybach has taken branding to an extreme, showcasing their logo prominently, reminiscent of someone who wears a t-shirt adorned with small, repeated logos to demonstrate their brand allegiance.

The hood? Covered in Maybach’s distinctive badging. The lower front grille? More logos here as well. The fabric roof? Indeed. Even the roof cover displays the same pattern abundance. Additionally, seat backs and other “key” locations feature the logos prominently. Mercedes seems to have fully embraced the concept of “branding everywhere,” mirroring a trend seen in recent models like the CLA. Subtlety may not be the focus here.

Performance or Just Comfort? You Decide

Every SL680 Monogram will come equipped with the same 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine as the regular SL63. This translates to 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, combined with a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. All-wheel drive? Yes. This configuration enables the SL680 to accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a commendable 4.1 seconds, with an electronically capped top speed of 162 mph (260 km/h).

However, let's be honest; if you're purchasing this vehicle, racing isn't likely on your agenda. While performance is impressive, it's the luxury and comfort that take precedence.

In terms of comfort, the SL680 isn’t tailored for racing days. Instead, it aims to relax and indulge. It is equipped with semi-active hydraulic roll stabilization, new damper valves, and custom springs that are softer than typical. Engineers have also enhanced insulation to diminish road noise and refined the exhaust with additional insulating materials, ensuring a tranquil ride.

The Price: Don’t Ask, Just Buy

So, what’s the cost of this luxury? While official pricing is yet to be released, early speculation indicates that the SL680 will start around $250,000 in the U.S., about $65,000 more than the standard SL63, so prepare to spend generously or have a wealthy relative who can assist.
