Seventy-five years ago today, the very first Formula 1 World Championship race took place at Silverstone. The starting lineup featured some notable figures, including a famous jazz musician, a Thai prince, a few lesser-known individuals, and names now synonymous with F1 greatness such as Fagioli, Farina, and Fangio.

The early Formula 1 cars were basic yet powerful, and they managed to navigate Silverstone's 2.8 miles of fast corners and sharp turns with relative ease. Or perhaps it was the drivers themselves—unlike today’s extremely fit racers—who were more like daring heavyweights with a strong passion for speed. It's worth noting that the average age of the 21 drivers on that landmark day was 39.

After a thrilling 2.5 hours of racing, an audience of 120,000, including King George VI, Queen Elizabeth, and Princess Elizabeth, witnessed Italian icon Giuseppe Farina clinch victory at the British Grand Prix (also known as the Grand Prix d’Europe) while driving his stunning Alfa Romeo 158, which was over ten years old at the time.

This leads me to ponder, throughout 75 years of F1, which car stands out as the most aesthetically pleasing? Selecting just one might be a daunting task, but perhaps we can categorize them by periods or styles. Without further ado, here are my top three selections.

      Ferrari 312T

Competing from 1975 through the end of the 1980 F1 season with renowned drivers like Niki Lauda, Gilles Villeneuve, Clay Regazzoni, Carlos Reutemann, and Jody Scheckter, the 312T is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable cars in the sport's history. It embodies both raw power and elegance.

      Jordan Mugen Honda

I’ve previously raved about the coolness of the Jordan Grand Prix Buzzin’ Hornets livery, and it truly deserves a second look. Thanks for creating such a fantastic-looking car, Eddie.

      McLaren-Honda MP4/4

Arguably the most iconic F1 car ever made—enough said.

What do you consider the most attractive F1 car of all time? And while we're at it, what do you imagine they will look like when the sport celebrates its 150th anniversary?
