Is the 1,817-horsepower, 1,193 lb-ft torque of your Hennessey Venom F5 not enough power? Hennessey has a solution, as the Texas-based company has just introduced the Hennessey Venom F5 Evolution, which boasts an impressive 2,031 horsepower. This makes it the most powerful internal combustion car, deriving all that power from its twin-turbo V8 engine alone—no hybrid support or electrification, just pure piston power.
The standard Venom F5 has been on the market for three years, with over 30 customers, including basketball icon Michael Jordan, having received their multi-million dollar hypercars. During this time, Hennessey has continued to refine the 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8, and the engine for the new Evolution, dubbed “Fury,” is a testament to that development.
According to Hennessey, its new Precision 76/80 Next Gen turbochargers are the world's largest mirror-image designs. The company has also collaborated with Penske’s Ilmor Engineering, known for its robust marine and racing engines, to create new oval-shaped billet aluminum pistons connected to “extreme-duty” billet aluminum connecting rods. Additionally, the top-end features new lightweight titanium exhaust valves, lighter valve covers, and larger high-flow fuel injectors. The result is a remarkable 2,031 hp at 8,000 rpm and 1,445 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm while using Shell E85 pump fuel.
Hennessey asserts that the Venom F5 Evolution can accelerate from zero to 200 mph in 10.3 seconds. Car and Driver recorded a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport achieving this in 14.8 seconds in 2022. When Motor Trend last tested the Rimac Nevera, it reached 186 mph in 15.6 seconds. There’s no official top speed for the F5 Evo yet, so whether it can challenge Bugatti's 300 mph-plus record remains uncertain, but it is exceptionally fast.
To manage all that power, Hennessey has equipped the Evolution with a new adaptive suspension that offers five driver-selectable modes through a toggle switch on the steering wheel: Sport, Road Race, Drag, Wet, and the full-throttle F5 Mode. A wet mode is particularly beneficial with 2,031 horsepower. It is designed to handle both comfortable street driving and ultra-high-performance track use, but that will have to be confirmed through testing.
Interestingly, Hennessey is offering the Evolution as a package for the Venom F5, rather than as a separate model. Customers can include the $285,000 package with their order for a new Venom, and it is available for all three models: Coupe, Roadster, and Revolution. Even more notably, it can also be retrofitted. Existing Venom F5 owners, regardless of body style, can return their vehicles to Hennessey, pay for the package, and then possess the most powerful purely internal combustion car globally.
