This Corvette has the appearance of a 1954 model, yet it performs like a Z06 | Carscoops
This 1954 Corvette restomod combines classic C1 styling with C5 Z06 performance, modern amenities, and discreet enhancements that honor the vehicle's heritage.
The car is set to be auctioned at Mecum’s Kissimmee event.
Equipped with a 405 hp 5.7L LS6 engine from a C5 Corvette Z06, it features a contemporary chassis complete with upgraded brakes and suspension.
While numerous restomods have caught attention in recent years, few do so as compellingly as this 1954 Chevrolet Corvette. As a first-generation 'Vette, it's a significant example of American automotive design, which is likely why many are cautious about making modifications. Refreshing a classic like this requires courage and a clear understanding of what should remain original.
In this instance, the C1 Corvette's body stays true to its roots. It now sits on a modern chassis, adorned with a new paint job and refinished chrome accents that highlight its classic lines without exaggerating them.
A set of two-piece billet Schott wheels enhances its presence, and the factory-style aesthetic is completed with a new aftermarket canvas top.
Beneath its timeless appearance, the car boasts upgrades that justify its restomod status. The engine bay houses the 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 from the C5 Corvette Z06, capable of producing 405 hp.
While the listing does not specify the car's current output, it features custom billet valve covers and a new aluminum intake.
Chassis enhancements further complement the build. Front and rear adjustable coilovers have been installed, and a six-speed Tremec manual transmission delivers power from the LS6 to the rear wheels.
The steering has been updated with a power-assisted rack and pinion system, and new brakes have been fitted at all four corners to ensure top performance.
As remarkable as the powertrain is, the interior stands out as a true highlight. It retains the original C1 gauges across the dashboard but has been reupholstered in striking red leather, featuring a smaller, flat-bottom steering wheel that is both thicker and more user-friendly than the original.
A Vintage Air HVAC system provides comfort while maintaining the visual appeal. Even the trunk is fully lined with the same red leather for a cohesive look.
Mecum Auctions is set to present the car at its Kissimmee auction on January 16. Although there is no pre-auction estimate provided, the quality of the build and the rarity of the model suggest that the final bid will likely be significant.
Will purists be alarmed? Probably. However, this '54 Corvette remains unapologetically bold, vibrant, and fast. Check out the listing before someone else snatches it up.
