Since the launch of the sixth-generation Bronco for 2021, a pressing question has emerged: Will it surpass the Jeep Wrangler in sales? For over two decades, the Wrangler was the go-to option for those seeking a convertible 4×4 with removable doors, but the Bronco has disrupted that status quo. With a remarkable increase of 39.62% in year-to-date sales, the Blue Oval off-roader has already eclipsed its previous best annual figure of 117,057 units from 2022.
As of the third quarter of 2025, Jeep has sold 128,054 Wranglers, while Ford recorded 109,921 Broncos—a difference of 18,133 units. However, considering that the Wrangler outperformed the Bronco by nearly 42,000 units last year, it’s evident that the trend is shifting in Ford’s favor. This is further highlighted by the fact that most Bronco sales are retail, with only a small number going to fleets; on the other hand, lower-spec Wranglers can be found in almost every rental car lot.
“Bronco at retail remains the best seller in its segment,” a spokesperson from Ford informed The Drive.
Ford has also released updated figures indicating that 121,171 Broncos have been sold year-to-date through October. It's a positive sign, especially as this number has already exceeded last year's end-year record by 4,000 units, with two months still remaining.

The competitive landscape with Ford and Toyota has significantly reduced Wrangler sales since the JL-generation was introduced for the 2018 model year. The current Wrangler reached a peak of 240,032 deliveries in its first full year, but last year saw a decline of approximately 90,000 units compared to that peak.
Jeep is expected to maintain its leading position for at least another year, as it seems improbable for Ford to close such a gap in the fourth quarter alone. Nevertheless, the reducing difference is noteworthy, especially since more consumers are making personal purchases of Broncos than Wranglers. While fleets will continue to benefit Jeep for some time, it appears that the Bronco may surpass the iconic four-wheeler before the JL generation is phased out.
