The fully electric third-generation Nissan Juke has been spotted testing in Europe.

It will be manufactured in Sunderland, UK, alongside the Leaf and Ariya models.

The current ICE-powered Juke will continue to be available alongside the new EV.

As one of Europe's more unique small SUVs, the Nissan Juke has always been recognized for its eccentricity, and now it’s gearing up for a significant advancement. A camouflaged prototype of the fully electric third-generation Juke has been observed testing on public roads, indicating its journey towards a market launch in 2026.

The new Juke was first teased in an official preview back in March, alongside the next-generation Micra and Leaf.

Interestingly, the new EV will not replace the existing combustion-engine model. Nissan intends to keep selling the petrol and hybrid versions in addition to the new electric variant, thus providing buyers with a wider range of powertrain options for the time being.

Even with the heavy camouflage, the prototype's proportions reveal much about its design direction. Its compact, muscular appearance is reminiscent of the Ford Puma Gen-E, yet the Nissan maintains its personality through angular fender flares, sharp split LED headlights, and a unique, tapering greenhouse that pays homage to the Juke’s earlier models.

The rear takes some inspiration from the Nissan Kicks design, though the rear glass is more inclined, and the tailgate features a sculpted form for a sportier appearance. The prototype showcases futuristic large alloy wheels in black.

Notably, the front doors have pop-out door handles, while hidden door handles are located on the C-pillars, similar to the original model. Overall, the design is significantly subdued compared to the Hyper Punk Concept from 2023.

While Nissan has not yet disclosed specific details about the new Juke's architecture, it is confirmed that production will take place at the Sunderland plant in the UK.

      Chassis and Powertrain

The new Juke EV is anticipated to utilize a shortened variant of the AmpR Medium (CMF-EV) platform, which also supports the Leaf and Ariya, both produced at the same facility. Alternatively, a smaller version could be based on the AmpR Small (CMF-BEV) platform from the Micra, produced in Douai, France.

Regardless of the choice, a front-mounted electric motor is likely, potentially paired with two different battery sizes to enhance appeal and price versatility within the market.

When it launches in 2026, the new Nissan Juke EV will compete against models such as the Peugeot e-2008, Fiat 600e, Jeep Compass, Opel Mokka Electric, Mini Aceman, Ford Puma Gen-E, as well as the forthcoming VW ID. Cross and Skoda Epiq models.
