Ferrari is recalling a few 2025 296 GTB and GTS supercars.

A loose nut may lead to an oil leak and potentially ignite a fire.

Owners have been advised not to operate their vehicles until inspections are completed.

Despite its prestigious status, Ferrari is not exempt from recalls and do-not-drive notices. This became evident today as the manufacturer initiated a recall involving six luxury sports cars.

This recall affects two 296 GTS models and four 296 GTB units from the 2025 lineup. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that a loose nut could lead to an oil leak, heightening the risk of a fire.

The issue has been traced to the "incorrect tightening of the nut securing the oil filter connection on the turbocharger oil feed pipes." This is attributed to a semi-automatic workstation used by a supplier that may have applied incorrect torque to the nut.

Ferrari first identified the problem earlier this month when issues arose with two 296 Speciales that had not yet been delivered. This prompted an investigation, which ultimately uncovered the workstation issue and confirmed that other 296 Speciales were not affected.

The automaker has not received any warranty claims related to the issue and has reported no injuries or accidents. Nevertheless, they opted to proceed with a recall and issued a do-not-drive order.

As part of the recall, dealership technicians will inspect the vehicles and check the tightness of the problematic nut. If found loose, they will tighten it to the proper specifications.

Notifications to owners are expected to be sent out in mid-December, which seems somewhat delayed given the nature of the do-not-drive order. On a positive note, this is a small-scale recall affecting only a limited number of owners.
