The most powerful version of the world's top-selling electric vehicle boasts bolder styling, sports seats, and adaptive dampers.

The Tesla Model Y Performance, the flagship of the lineup, features a rapid 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 3.3 seconds.

It is equipped with a more aerodynamic kit, 21-inch wheels, and ventilated sports seats.

This electric vehicle utilizes an adaptive suspension system and offers a WLTP range of 580 km (360 miles).

Tesla's newest entry into their range is a sharper and quicker rendition of the best-selling EV. The 2026 Model Y Performance takes cues from the latest Model 3 Performance, fusing dual-motor power with a revised suspension, refreshed aesthetics, and sportier seating. The aim is clear: to provide a family-friendly crossover that feels more like a supercar than a typical school run vehicle, while remaining budget-friendly.

Externally, the flagship Model Y distinguishes itself with a subtly aggressive body kit and unique 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 wheels featuring red brake calipers. The reimagined front bumper intakes, carbon spoiler extension, enhanced diffuser, additional vents on the rear bumper, and a distinctive tailgate badge all emphasize its top-tier status without being excessive.

Inside, the Model Y Performance introduces new sports seats with built-in headrests and enhanced bolstering, which include heating, ventilation, and electric adjustments. The dashboard is adorned with carbon fiber and now accommodates a larger 16-inch infotainment screen, an upgrade from the standard 15.4-inch display, offering improved resolution. The cabin is completed with a standard 15-speaker audio system, including a subwoofer.

In terms of performance, the Model Y Performance is equipped with dual electric motors that provide all-wheel-drive capabilities. Although Tesla has not released official power figures, reports indicate that the European variant produces 460 hp (343 kW / 466 PS). The North American model is anticipated to be more powerful, delivering 510 hp (380 kW / 517 PS), aligning with the Model 3 Performance.

Official sources confirm that this crossover version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds, or 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds. This marks a 0.2-second improvement over the previous Model Y Performance, although it is still 0.4 seconds slower than the lighter Model 3 Performance and 0.1 seconds behind the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. Its maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).

Regarding the suspension and handling, the Model Y Performance switches from the standard version's frequency selective dampers to a set of electronically controlled continuously variable dampers. This system, while similar to that used in the Model 3 Performance, has been specifically calibrated for the crossover. It includes upgraded suspension components, staggered wheels, and new Drive Modes, which allow drivers to adjust the powertrain for a more engaging driving experience.

Despite its enhanced performance, the Model Y Performance retains an impressive WLTP range of 580 km (360 miles), just 6 km (4 miles) shorter than the Long Range AWD version. This is thanks to high-density battery cells with improved charging capacity, combined with a new powertrain that expands the thermal operating window, boosting overall efficiency. When connected to a Supercharger, the crossover can recharge up to 243 km (151 miles) of range in just 15 minutes.

The new Model Y Performance is currently available for order in Europe, the UK, the Middle East, and Africa, with deliveries expected to start in September 2025.

In Germany, it is priced at €61,990 ($72,400), representing a €9,000 ($10,500) increase over the Long Range variant. In the UK, the price is £61,990 ($79,000), or £10,000 ($12,800) more than the updated Model Y Long Range AWD. For customers who purchased the “Launch Edition,” the difference is only £990 ($1,270), effectively paying extra to later feel slightly dissatisfied.

Currently, details regarding North America, including availability, remain unconfirmed, although announcements are anticipated soon.
