Lexus has unveiled the 2026 NX, discontinuing the entry-level 250 model.
The NX 350h introduces a new front-wheel drive variant that achieves 40 mpg.
The NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid adds a Premium trim that will save buyers a significant amount.
As the second-generation Lexus NX reaches maturity, it brings several unexpected updates. Although a redesign isn’t planned for 2026, consumers will see updated powertrain options and a more affordable plug-in hybrid.
A notable new feature is the entry-level Premium trim for the NX 450h+, which is priced at $59,105, making it $3,930 less expensive than the current Luxury variant.
Despite the lower price, the NX 450h+ Premium comes well-appointed with heated and ventilated front seats, as well as a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel that has power adjustments. Other features include a digital rearview mirror, a moonroof, a ten-speaker audio system, and a 14-inch infotainment display.
Additionally, all NX 450h+ models now include dual charging cables, allowing owners to utilize both Level 1 and Level 2 connections.
Expanded Hybrid Offerings
Another significant addition is the introduction of the NX 350h with front-wheel drive. It is powered by a hybrid 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers a combined output of 240 hp (179 kW / 243 PS).
This capability allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 8.2 seconds and achieve 40 mpg combined. By comparison, the all-wheel drive NX 350h reaches 60 mph (96 km/h) in 7.2 seconds and has a fuel efficiency that is only 1 mpg lower.
On the positive side, the starting price for the front-wheel drive NX 350h is $45,470, providing a substantial savings compared to the all-wheel drive version, which starts at $47,020.
There are few additional modifications, but hybrid models now come with the F Sport Handling trim. There is also a new Infrared paint option available and an increased availability of Ultra White.
The Base Model Has Been Removed
Pricing now begins at $46,120, which includes a $1,295 destination charge. This reflects a significant increase as the entry-level NX 250 has reportedly been phased out, starting at $42,260.
With this change, the NX 350 now becomes the lowest-tier model, equipped with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 275 hp (202 kW / 279 PS) and 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and features standard all-wheel drive, allowing the model to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 6.6 seconds while achieving a combined fuel economy of 24 mpg.
