Tesla's Most Anticipated Model Y Is Set for Its Grand Introduction | Carscoops
The revamped Model Y Performance may make its debut in just a few hours.
Tesla seems to be preparing to unveil the Model Y Performance on August 29.
This crossover could feature a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, delivering 510 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque.
It appears that European markets will be the first to receive this crossover, but it is expected to reach the US eventually.
If you appreciate the Tesla Model 3 Performance but prefer a slightly more practical version, you’re in luck, as the Model Y Performance is set to debut tomorrow.
While the company has not shared extensive information, they did post a "spoiler alert" on X, revealing an unclear image of a vehicle with a blurry spoiler, likely the Model Y Performance, which was seen testing earlier this year.
Earlier photos indicate that the crossover will closely resemble the standard model, but the final production version may feature sportier bumpers, a redesigned spoiler, and an altered diffuser. Unique wheels, accompanied by a high-performance braking system with red calipers, are also anticipated.
The sportier design is expected to carry into the interior, which will feature supportive seats and carbon fiber accents. Aside from these changes, the layout will largely remain the same, with a 15.4-inch display and an 8-inch rear touchscreen.
Similar to the Model 3 Performance, this crossover will likely incorporate an upgraded dual-motor powertrain that generates 510 hp (380 kW / 517 PS) and 546 lb-ft (741 Nm) of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 2.9 seconds when rollout is taken into account.
There are expectations for a “performance-oriented chassis” equipped with specialized components aimed at reducing weight and enhancing rigidity. Additional features might include adaptive dampers, ultra-high-strength steel springs, and firmer suspension mounts.
We will have full details shortly, but it seems the Model Y Performance will debut in Europe and the Middle East first, with plans to reach the United States later, likely priced around $58,000.
