The 2027 RS6 Avant has been spotted ahead of its launch next year and will feature an entirely new plug-in hybrid powertrain.

This high-performance model showcases a more aggressive front end and distinct dual exhausts, potentially delivering over 700 horsepower.

Earlier this year, Audi presented the redesigned A6 Avant, and now the company is focusing on the powerful RS6 Avant. Several prototypes have been observed testing on and near the Nürburgring as part of this development.

Covered in swirling camouflage, the sporty wagon follows the design of the standard model but boasts a bolder front fascia, characterized by larger air intakes and a revamped grille with a diamond pattern.

A detailed look reveals a noticeable front lip and familiar headlights, which feature digital daytime running lights with 48 individual LED segments and seven unique light signatures.

While the profile remains largely similar, sportier side skirts and front fender vents are evident. Notably, we can see a fuel door and charging port on the rear quarter panels, indicating its plug-in hybrid nature. Additionally, it will be 2.4 inches (60 mm) longer than its predecessor.

At the rear, two large exhaust tips signify that this is not an ordinary family vehicle. They are accompanied by a distinctive bumper and a subtle diffuser. The model is also equipped with boomerang-shaped taillights connected by a slim illuminated strip.

Though spy photographers did not capture the interior, we can anticipate an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch infotainment screen, and a 10.9-inch display for the front passenger. Features are likely to include sport seats, carbon fiber accents, and ample RS branding.

We wouldn’t be surprised to find a dynamic interaction light, a premium Bang & Olufsen audio system, and a spacious trunk capable of accommodating up to 54.2 cubic feet (1,534 liters) of cargo.

The 2027 RS6 Avant will be based on the Premium Platform Combustion, and there are mixed reports regarding whether it will feature a new V6 or an enhanced twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8. Regardless of the engine choice, an output exceeding 700 horsepower (522 kW / 710 PS) is likely.
