The revamped Forester Wilderness is priced at $2,100 more than its earlier version.
Subaru has unveiled the 2026 Forester, which features a redesigned Wilderness variant.
This model boasts distinctive styling, an elevated suspension, and 17-inch wheels fitted with all-terrain tires.
The 2026 Forester is set to hit US dealerships this fall, with a starting price of $29,995.
Earlier this year, Subaru presented the 2026 Forester Wilderness, announcing that its pricing will start at $38,385, reflecting a $2,100 increase. However, customers will experience a notably enhanced crossover.
Arriving this fall, the redesigned Forester Wilderness merges rugged aesthetics with increased capability. The update includes a unique front fascia, a revised grille, and skid plates, as well as special fog lights and a matte black hood decal to minimize glare during off-road adventures.
Off-Road Focus
This is just the beginning, as the crossover features an off-road-oriented suspension that offers 9.3 inches (236 mm) of ground clearance, which is 0.6 inches (15 mm) higher than the standard model. Buyers will also receive 17-inch matte black wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires.
Thanks to these modifications, the Forester Wilderness boasts improved approach, departure, and breakover angles of 23.5, 25.5, and 21 degrees, respectively. Additional features include anodized copper accents, a "SUBARU" branded rear bumper, and ladder-style roof rails.
The interior retains much from previous models but introduces gray StarTex seats with copper contrast stitching and embossed front headrests. They are complemented by unique trim, copper details, and all-weather floor mats.
Since this model is based on the Premium trim, it is expected to include a 10-way power driver's seat, heated front seats, and a wireless smartphone charger. Additionally, buyers can look forward to an 11.6-inch infotainment system, a six-speaker audio system, and a moonroof.
For those seeking more features, a $2,200 package adds GPS navigation, an 11-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a power liftgate.
Wider Forester Updates
In addition to the Wilderness variant, the 2026 Forester receives a redesigned center console with new cup holders that can hold 32-ounce water bottles. Other notable enhancements include a larger armrest, a more compact shifter, and a new storage area at the front for personal items and phones.
Though these changes are minor, Subaru has maintained competitive pricing. This is increasingly rare in today's market, but the model continues to start at $29,995. However, the destination fee has risen by $30 to $1,450.
All versions are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine that generates 180 hp (134 kW / 183 PS) and 178 lb-ft (241 Nm) of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission and a standard symmetrical all-wheel drive system.
Pricing for the 2026 Subaru Forester has been announced.
