The upcoming Mustang GT500 is expected to feature a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, referred to as the 'Legend'.

Recent reports suggest that the new GT500 will generate between 760 and 815 horsepower.

In addition to the increased power, there will be various visual and aerodynamic enhancements.

A leaked document allegedly from the UAW indicates that the vehicle will debut in February.

Despite the Ford Mustang GTD being an incredibly impressive model, its high price makes it unattainable for many Ford buyers. Fortunately, a more affordable yet potentially equally powerful Mustang is in development, which may bring back the GT500 name, hinting at our first glimpse of it.

Recently, several concealed Ford Mustang prototypes have been spotted during testing, with one being captured by our photographers in June. FordAuthority has also filmed one of these test cars in action, producing an enticing sound that will interest anyone who might find the Dark Horse insufficient.

The entire front of the prototype is covered in camouflage and body cladding for good reason. It's likely equipped with the same 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine used in the F-150 Raptor R. Ford is expected to aim for more than the 760 horsepower that the previous Shelby GT500 produced, possibly approaching the 800-horsepower mark. However, since the new GT500 will be significantly less expensive than the GTD, it may not reach the GTD's 815 horsepower.

As for the sound, there's no mistaking the V8 growl from this prototype for any other engine type. Unfortunately, the driver was operating it quite gently, so we didn’t have a chance to hear the thrilling whine of a large supercharger. We may need to wait a bit longer to experience its full sound as development progresses.

Aside from the engine and camouflage, this prototype features large tires: 305/30ZR20 at the front and 315/30ZR20 Pirelli P Zero R at the rear, similar to those of the previous GT500. The rear appears mostly standard Mustang GT, though the production version will likely include a distinct bumper, diffuser, and exhaust system.

The news about a new Mustang GT500 surfaced in February after an internal UAW document was leaked online, stating that the car would be powered by the 'Legend' engine, manufactured on the same line as the 5.2-liter supercharged V8 found in the Raptor R.
