Gunther Werks introduced Project F-26 alongside the GWX during Monterey Car Week.

The powertrain consists of a 4.0-liter twin-turbo air-cooled engine sourced from Rothsport Racing.

The body is predominantly constructed from carbon fiber, weighing in at a mere 2,700 lbs.

It turns out that the one-of-three GWX isn’t the only vehicle Gunther Werks has been developing. Alongside the GWX at Monterey Car Week, they unveiled the new Project F-26, which could be the most extravagant 911-based restomod in existence, though it will be produced in greater numbers than the GWX. Still, with only 26 units planned for production, it will retain its rarity.

In creating the F-26, Gunther Werks drew inspiration from Porsche’s legendary Slantnose models, including the 936 Slantnose and 911 Slantnose. The design aims to emulate the aerodynamic profile of a fighter jet, positioning it far removed from a Singer 911. For buyers seeking classic 911 styling combined with modern hypercar performance, the F-26 may be the ideal choice.

At the heart of this vehicle is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged air-cooled flat-six engine co-developed with Rothsport Racing, producing an astounding 1,000 hp and 750 lb-ft (1,017 Nm) of torque. This engine features a race-inspired flat fan, claimed to offer over twice the cooling efficiency of a standard vertical fan. Additional components include a carbon fiber airbox, a reimagined intercooler plenum, and integrated blow-off valves within the intake system.

This engine is paired solely with a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, powering the rear wheels. To manage the power effectively, the F-26 is fitted with large 295/30 front and 335/30 rear Continental ExtremeContact Force tires. Gunther has also introduced a new double-wishbone suspension at the front, adaptive JRZ dampers, an advanced traction control system, and extended the wheelbase by 30 mm.

In terms of aesthetics, the F-26 features a customized front fascia with distinctive headlights and turn signals, alongside a grille resembling that of the current 911 GT3. The wheel arches have been expanded to fit the larger tires, while the rear showcases a unique LED light bar, an oversized rear wing, and a custom diffuser. Most new components are made from carbon fiber, allowing the car to weigh just 2,700 lbs (1,224 kg).

Similar to the exterior, the interior is completely custom. It features a carbon fiber dashboard, leather finishes, and Alcantara on the headliner.
