Rodz and Bodz, a movie car museum and prop rental company based in Colorado, is shutting down and auctioning its extensive collection this week. This marks the second significant sell-off from a car museum we've learned about this month. Check out the catalog to see what interests you!

Zack Loffert runs the museum, having started a movie-prop rental business in 2017 and expanding it to include a museum in 2021. According to Westword, the pandemic prompted Loffert to shift from event rentals, although it's unclear if museums were particularly popular during peak COVID. Perhaps he had some exhibits displayed outdoors in the earlier stages. Currently, the museum is housed in a building owned by Kimco Development, which the Englewood Herald reports is being redeveloped for a hotel and apartments.

Loffert intends to secure a new location and restart with a slightly altered concept of a movie car museum. In the meantime, he is selling off a substantial amount of inventory to fund the new space.

“It’s like 99% no reserve—high bidder wins. Bidding can be done in person or online,” Loffert informed local media. “There will be 463 items. We’re featuring movie cars, trucks, signs, gas pumps, pedal cars, screen-used memorabilia—things like that.”

A rich catalog of memorabilia and intriguing vehicles is available for auction, which officially opens this Friday, August 22, at 7 p.m. local time. You can view the Day 1 listings here (mostly large signs and memorabilia) and the Day 2 listings here, which include various cars.

While some items are screen-used, many are replicas. They can generally be identified with a close examination of the images, and their authenticity is detailed in the auction descriptions. The Ford Explorer from Jurassic Park wasn’t featured in the film, but the 1974 Ford Gran Torino appeared in the 2004 Starsky & Hutch remake, and this Rubble Racer was part of the ’94 Flintstones film.

The vintage road signs are likely where you'll find the best bargains, but the collection of screen-used and movie-replica cars is the most exciting to explore. Other notable items include a replica of the Dumb & Dumber Mutt Cutts van, a Ghostbusters hearse from the 2016 film, the police Chevy Blazer from Stranger Things, and several replicas of early Fast & Furious tuner cars. Kraft Auctions is overseeing the sale, and you can participate in person or online if you're eager to take home something from this assortment. For locals, the auction will be held at 401 Englewood Parkway in Englewood, Colorado. The Friday auction will feature over 400 signs, memorabilia, and more, while Saturday will offer more than 60 movie and collector cars, alongside gas pumps and vintage signs.
