Lexus is Set to Discontinue These Long-Standing Models | Carscoops

A nearly complete lineup of models is being phased out, which includes a V8 sedan, coupe, and electric SUV, indicating a significant change in the series.

Lexus plans to cease production of the IS 300, IS 300h, IS 350, and IS 500 in November 2025. The related RC models—RC 300, RC 300h, RC 350, and RC F coupes—will also meet a similar fate. Additionally, the electric UX is set to be discontinued, with the hybrid version likely to follow suit.

Lexus is gearing up to end production of several important models, marking the conclusion of an era for some of its longest-established nameplates. Most variations of the IS sedan, RC coupe, and fully electric UX SUV are slated for discontinuation, with production in Japan officially scheduled to stop in November 2025.

Visitors to the dedicated model pages on Lexus' official Japanese website will encounter the following announcement:

“Thank you for considering our vehicles. Production of the IS 500 / IS 350 / IS 300h (AWD) / IS 300 / RC 350 / RC 300h, and RC 300 will conclude in November 2025. Sales will end once the orders reach the production quantities for November. Depending on when you plan to purchase a vehicle, some packages might no longer be available. Please get in touch with your Lexus dealer for more information.”

A similar notice (though with a slightly more apologetic tone) can be found on the RC F Final Edition page, marking the farewell of the V8-powered coupe introduced in January 2025. This version was limited to just 200 units in Japan, and Lexus has confirmed that all have been allocated:

“Thank you for your continued support of our products. We regret to inform you that the RC F ‘Final Edition’ has reached its limit of 200 units and is now sold out. We appreciate your ongoing support for the RC F. The RC ‘Final Edition’ will be available until production ends in November 2025.”

With this update, only the rear-wheel-drive IS 300h will remain in production for the Japanese market, as all other IS and RC variants are being phased out.

An Aging Lineup but Changes are Ahead

This development was anticipated. Lexus recently rolled out what are expected to be the last model year updates for both the IS sedan and RC coupe, which date back to 2013, making them over a decade old. The IS received facelifts in 2017 and 2020, while the RC had a mid-cycle refresh in 2018.

As noted by Creative Trend, a new generation of the IS is rumored for 2026. Despite previous plans to transition to an EV-only lineup, the new IS is expected to have both electric and hybrid powertrain options, following the trend set by the larger Lexus ES sedan.

The situation appears more complex for the RC coupe, which may not receive a direct successor. Instead, Lexus is reportedly developing a sporty coupe that could potentially take the place of both the RC and LC models. The LC is also nearing the end of its production lifecycle, as suggested by the recent unveiling of the LC 500 Pinnacle Edition. Production for the LC is expected to conclude in 2026, although an exact date has not been finalized.

UX 300e Also Scheduled for Exit

Lastly, Lexus has confirmed that production of its smallest electric SUV, the UX 300e, will cease in November 2025. This model was introduced in 2019, following the launch of the gasoline and hybrid versions of the UX in 2018.

According to Japanese newspaper Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, the hybrid UX 300h is also expected to be discontinued, with production wrapping up during the 2025 fiscal year, which ends on March 30, 2026. While Lexus has not announced a successor, the UX remains a globally sold model in a highly competitive market. Its close relationship with the Toyota C-HR and Corolla Cross suggests that a next-generation version is likely under development.
