I anticipated this outcome. With Ram making such a significant announcement regarding the return of the Hemi V8, I imagine you did as well. Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa recently revealed during the company's earnings call for the first half of the year that the Ram TRX is set to return, probably featuring the supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8, which they previously claimed would be discontinued.
Not that I’m complaining, of course.
Filosa didn’t provide many details about the super truck, briefly mentioning only the name and engine information. Mopar Insiders quoted him stating, “The V8 engine on versions such as the Ram 1500 TRX will provide us additional volumes but also recognized margins per unit." We won't know the specifics regarding changes to the truck until we approach the launch, which is said to be scheduled for early 2026 with production kicking off in January.
If I were to place a bet, I'd wager that the TRX will boast more power than its previous output of 702 horses. It will once again compete with the Ford F-150 Raptor R, now producing 720 hp. I can't imagine Ram entering this competition without aiming for greater performance, but that remains speculation at this stage. Regardless, Ram’s performance lineup will align with Ford's offerings, featuring the twin-turbo I6-powered RHO against the standard Raptor and the TRX facing off with the R.
This aligns perfectly with how Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis manages the brand. He embraces machismo and boldness, earning him both admirers and critics who prefer a different approach. However, he certainly caters to the public's demand—especially when that demand is for more V8 pickups. The guy consistently delivers.
