About a month ago, we discovered that the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X was gearing up to challenge the renowned Nürburgring Nordschleife for a lap time. Tomorrow, that time will be revealed, and I find myself analyzing the teaser posts for hints. It seems like a long shot, but if I'm correct, the new Ultimate Vette might just become the fastest production car around the Green Hell.

On June 28, the Corvette Instagram account shared a brief video with the caption "fast as green hell," confirming that the powerful ZR1X would be timing itself on the automotive industry's preferred benchmark track. June 28 is 6/28—if it achieves a time of six minutes and 28 seconds, it could potentially break the track record. Forget surpassing Mustangs—on the complete 20.832-kilometer course, that would beat the formidable Mercedes-AMG ONE, which completed it in 6 minutes and 29.09 seconds with AMG racer Maro Engel last year. Engel and AMG also recorded a time of 06:24.03 on a slightly shorter, 20.6-kilometer version of the ‘Ring.

Today, a new post appeared showcasing various versions of the latest Corvette, suggesting that we will receive timings for both the ZR1X and the ZR1. However, if a 6:28 time is even feasible, only the 1,250-horsepower ZR1X could realistically accomplish it. Achieving such a time would be an extraordinary accomplishment, and even if it falls short, the new Corvette is bound to impress. It would certainly be thrilling to witness a new production car record set by a Chevy, of all brands.

For additional context regarding ‘Ring times, the Ford Mustang GTD finished in 6:52.072, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS completed it in 7:09.300, and the Honda Civic Type R recorded 7:44.881.

Regardless of the final figures for the new Corvette, it will be interesting to see how it compares to other track legends.
