Kia's Exciting Electric Hatch Could Be Concealing More Power Than You'd Anticipate | Carscoops
The camouflaged Kia EV4 GT hints at significant performance and capability, potentially surpassing current hot hatches.
Recently, spy photographers captured the first images of the Kia EV4 GT Hatchback, which may debut next year featuring a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. Alongside vibrant brake calipers, we can look forward to sportier bumpers and an updated interior.
Although the 2026 Kia EV4 won’t be available in the United States until early next year, spy photographers have already spotted this high-performance hatchback in Europe. It aims to blend performance with practicality to take on competitors like the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX.
The prototype is heavily camouflaged, yet it reveals a few hints that distinguish it from standard models. Notably, the neon yellow brake calipers, which are also found on the EV6 GT and EV9 GT, stand out, along with two-tone wheels that may be exclusive to this model.
Even though the black disguise conceals much of the design, we anticipate sportier bumpers and additional body color details. The EV4 GT may also feature a redesigned interior with a sporty steering wheel, specialized seats, and numerous GT badges.
The standard EV4 is built on the E-GMP platform, equipped with either a 58.3 or 81.4 kWh battery pack. There is a front-mounted motor generating a modest 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS), which should provide ranges of 235 miles (378 km) and 330 miles (531 km) in sedan form.
The EV4 GT is sure to elevate performance, potentially featuring an 81.4 kWh battery that powers a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. This setup might yield over 402 hp (300 kW / 408 PS), with some sources speculating it could reach up to 480 hp (358 kW / 487 PS).
Regardless of the final power output, we can expect a more dynamic driving experience due to a retuned suspension. Additionally, the vehicle may incorporate a virtual gear shift feature that simulates shifts with engine sound effects, visuals, and tactile feedback through adjustments in motor torque.
