This week, our spy photo source in Germany provided us with an album featuring a Porsche Taycan Turbo prototype showcasing some incredibly striking aerodynamic features. With its asymmetrical wheels and GT3 RS-style fender vents, it’s evident that Porsche continues to refine its already breathtakingly fast electric super sedan.
Currently, the pinnacle of the Taycan lineup is the 2026 Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package, priced at around a quarter-million dollars. This model boasts up to 1,019 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in an astonishing 2.1 seconds with launch control. In contrast, a few weeks ago, I had the chance to drive the more standard Taycan Cross Turismo with less than half that power and found it to be incredibly fast.
While aerodynamic modifications don’t necessarily imply that Porsche is aiming for greater speed, it’s possible the team is simply seeking improved stability and range, as aerodynamic enhancements can significantly contribute to both aspects.
The source of these images mentioned that Manthey, a long-time collaborator with Porsche, was involved in this specific Taycan setup, and that Porsche race driver Lars Kern was behind the wheel. Kern has previously tested several Porsche models, including the Taycan, during key development and record-setting phases.
A detailed examination of the photos reveals that the wheel arch extensions on the front and rear are more pronounced than those on the current Weissach model. Notably, the rear-wheel aerodynamic covers and front fender vents stand out.
Photographer Stefan Baldauf remarked in an email, “Similar to the 911 GT3 RS, the wheel arch ends at the top and a completely new air deflector directs airflow from the wheel arch along the side of the vehicle. The diffuser underneath the car is also quite striking, resembling that of a GT3 RS more than a Taycan. A completely redesigned lip and additional flaps are visible at the front. The prototype was equipped with Pirelli tires.”
It looks impressive. Although I generally have mixed feelings about electric vehicles, the Taycan is definitely one of my favorite offerings on the road today. It’s exciting to see Porsche continuing to innovate with this platform.
This clip will provide a glimpse of what the formidable Taycan Turbo can already achieve:
