Another Round of Recalls Brings Ford Closer to an Unwelcome Milestone | Carscoops

The most recent set of recalls pertains to unexpected engine stalls and malfunctioning instrument clusters.

Ford has announced three recalls for the F-150, Ranger, and Navigator models.

Certain F-150s may experience engine stalls due to a connectivity issue that can damage or detach engine wiring.

Additionally, some Rangers have defective instrument clusters, and the Navigator is undergoing a repeat recall.

Ford is nearing a significant but unwanted milestone—issuing 100 recalls in a single year. Although the company still needs to reach that figure, three new campaigns are bringing them closer.

F-150 Recall: A Cable, a Hose, and Excessive Friction

The first recall affects forty 2025 F-150s. These trucks, equipped with 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engines, may experience a “contact condition between the engine wire harness and the engine coolant hose.”

According to government reports, the engine wiring harness and coolant hose may touch each other, potentially causing “chafing of the engine wire harness or the pulling out of Powertrain Control Module connector pins,” which could lead to an unexpected engine stall.

This issue is attributed to a coolant hose that was improperly secured to an engine wire harness that lacked adequate abrasion protection. To rectify the problem, dealers will check the wiring harness for any damage and make repairs as necessary. The coolant hose clip will also be repositioned, and protective sleeving will be added to the wiring harness.

      Ranger Instrument Cluster Issues

The second recall affects 45 Rangers from the 2025 model year. These trucks have an instrument cluster that was “not properly configured,” preventing “many” warning lights and gauges from functioning correctly, including the fuel gauge and forward collision warning system.

Ford has noted six warranty claims related to this problem, and customers will be instructed to bring their trucks to a dealership for proper configuration of the cluster.

Lincoln Navigators Require a Software Update

The final recall concerns eight Lincoln Navigators from the 2022 model year. These vehicles are experiencing a repeat recall because they may not have been equipped with the correct software in a previous campaign. Consequently, the initial concern could persist, leading to the failure of daytime running lights and side marker lamps.

Ford has attributed the issue to a tool that did not successfully upload the correct software to the vehicle. To resolve the issue, owners will be directed to take their luxury SUVs to a dealership for an update of the Headlamp Control Module software.
