The Tremor package adds an additional inch of ride height, all-terrain tires, and a rear limited-slip differential.
Ford has introduced the Tremor option for its popular Explorer SUV.
The Tremor features a specialized suspension system and enhanced underbody protection.
Engine options include a 300-hp 2.3L four-cylinder or a 400-hp 3.0L V6.
While modern SUVs are significantly more refined and comfortable than their predecessors, automakers have recently reintroduced a rugged edge to their vehicles with packages like Trailsport, Trailhawk, and Tremor. Ford's Tremor package, available on vehicles such as the Expedition, F-150, and Maverick, is now being added to the 2026 Explorer lineup.
Trail-Ready Yet Comfortable on the Road
The Tremor upgrade provides the Explorer with a custom suspension system that raises the ride height by 1 inch (25 mm) and includes specially tuned springs and anti-roll bars to maintain ride comfort both on the road and off. Additionally, skid plates are included to protect the drivetrain in case that extra ground clearance is needed.
All-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels provide traction, supported by a rear limited-slip differential. Unlike the standard Explorers, the Tremor comes equipped with all-wheel drive as a standard feature. The base engine is Ford's 300 hp (304 PS) 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline-four, but a 400 hp (406 PS) 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost engine is also available as an option.
Stylish Modifications with the Right Amount of Attitude
A yellow-orange (“spice" in Ford terminology) bar stretches across the front grille, and this color is echoed on the towing hooks, wheel spokes, and throughout the interior, where it appears in the stitching on the steering wheel, seats, dashboard, and door panels.
The Explorer received a facelift for 2026, and like all models in the lineup, the Tremor comes equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen. Standard features include a 360-degree camera, though premium items like massage seats and a 14-speaker B&O audio system will require an additional cost.
Ford’s BlueCruise 1.5 is also included, which may not be particularly useful when off-roading, but could be beneficial during highway driving to your adventure destination.
What is the Price?
Ford has not yet disclosed the pricing for the Explorer Tremor, but based on its specifications, it is expected to be positioned between the ST-Line and the full ST, suggesting a starting MSRP of around $52,000 to $54,000, with prices exceeding $56,000 if the V6 engine is selected.
