Selecting the $31,925 Equipment Group 803A option transformed this F-150 Raptor into a super-truck powered by a 5.2-liter, supercharged V8.

A used Ford F-150 Raptor R significantly exceeded its original MSRP at auction.

Originally priced at $114,320, the performance truck sold for $138,000.

Included options feature the Raptor R package and a $1,495 moonroof.

It’s easy to believe that with the pandemic behind us, the days of people overpaying for new cars are over. While that’s generally true, this Ford F-150 demonstrates that buyers are still willing to pay a premium for unique and special vehicles.

The 25MY truck had an initial MSRP of $114,320, but when bidding concluded on the Bring a Trailer auction, it had reached $138,000. This means the buyer paid nearly $24,000 above the list price to become the second owner of this Ford pickup.

However, this F-150 isn’t just any truck. Initially, it was configured as a Raptor, which would have cost $78,905 and featured a 450 hp (456 PS) Ecoboost V6 if the first buyer had chosen the base model directly.

Instead, the buyer opted to increase the total cost by $31,925 by selecting Equipment Group 803A, which may sound like a simple option package, but it significantly enhances the already quick F-150 Raptor to something akin to a GT500 with a truck bed.

The R variant replaces the stock Raptor’s V6 with a Ford 5.2-liter supercharged Predator V8, boosting power to 720 hp (730 PS) and increasing torque from 510 lb-ft (692 PS) to 640 lb-ft (868 Nm). It can accelerate from zero to 62 mph (96 km/h) in under 4.0 seconds, and its combination of bead-lock-capable 17-inch wheels, 37-inch BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A tires, Fox Racing shocks, and an electronically controlled locking rear differential ensures that enjoyment isn’t limited to paved roads.

The only other feature the original buyer—who is now the seller—selected was a twin-panel moonroof costing $1,495, but he hasn’t had much chance to use it. The truck has only traveled 476 miles (766 km) since new before being listed on Bring a Trailer. The auction site has sold many similar Raptor Rs this year, with most fetching well over MSRP due to the high demand for Ford’s most versatile performance vehicle.
