      BMW has replaced its top-selling i4 M50 with a more potent M60.

With an additional 56 hp, the time to accelerate from zero to 62 mph is now 3.7 seconds, improved from 3.9 seconds.

Other models from BMW, such as the 2-series and X5M, also see minor enhancements.

The BMW i4 M50 was the M division’s inaugural electric vehicle, but it lacked speed. While achieving a zero to 62 mph (96 km/h) time of 3.9 seconds wasn’t particularly slow, many M cars and competing EVs could easily outpace it. This summer, M's most popular model receives a power boost to help level the playing field.

Departing is the i4 M50, and arriving is the i4 M60, which validates its new designation with an upgrade to its dual-motor powertrain. The power rises from 537 hp (544 PS / 400 kW) to 593 hp (601 PS / 442 kW), leading to a 3.7 seconds sprint to 62 mph. Despite this improvement, it still trails behind other performance EVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Tesla Model 3 Performance, and is 0.2 seconds slower than an M3 Competition xDrive. Nonetheless, it represents progress.

In addition, at the other end of the i4 lineup, the eDrive35 and eDrive40 are now equipped with silicon carbide semiconductor components that decrease energy consumption by approximately 4.5 percent. This change potentially enhances the range on a single charge by 14 miles, bringing the eDrive35's limited range to 266 WLTP miles (428 km) while extending the eDrive40’s range to 317 miles (510 km).

BMW's summer update further enhances the standard features for the 1-series and 2-series Gran Coupé, adding heated front seats and an alarm system. Additionally, the optional M Technology Package II for the M135 xDrive hatch now includes M seat belts featuring M colors within the weave.

The 7-series and i7 receive improvements such as laminated safety glass and individual sun/heat protection options for passengers. The X5M Competition and its X6 counterpart introduce an Ultimate Package that includes a carbon engine cover and mirror caps, a panoramic roof, ventilated massage seats, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and an increased speed limiter from 155 mph (250 km/h) to 180 mph (290 km/h), which may be unnecessary for most.

Moreover, if you're considering a customized BMW Individual paint job for your new vehicle, you can now select it through the standard configurator rather than having to use the BMW Individual Visualiser.
