      A young driver allegedly crashed a newly acquired M4 while drifting in Dearborn.

      Surveillance footage captures the high-powered coupe losing stability and crashing into a lawn.

      Dearborn, Michigan, known for being Ford's home, witnessed this BMW M4 doing its best impression of a Mustang by crashing. The aftermath is severe, with the rear bumper severely damaged and the driver's side rear wheel torn off.

      Details about the incident are scarce, but social media suggests that a 16-year-old and his friend decided to take a ride in a car recently purchased by the friend's parents. The young driver is said to have begun drifting around the area before losing control.

      This incident was captured on security cameras, showing the coupe speeding and making a turn for no clear reason. This caused the car to spin out and ultimately come to a stop on a front lawn after hitting the curb.

      The 16-year-old and his friend reportedly emerged unharmed, but the teenager was reportedly cited for reckless driving. This offense is considered a misdemeanor, carrying a potential penalty of up to $500 in fines and/or up to 93 days in jail.

      Reckless driving also incurs six points on their driving record, equivalent to charges for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, fleeing from police, or manslaughter/negligent homicide involving a motor vehicle.

      These are significant penalties; in contrast, the base model BMW M4 has a starting price of $80,100. The vehicle was reportedly purchased by the friend’s parents, prompting various commenters to criticize the adults for acquiring such a costly and powerful car.
