Final Opportunity to Acquire a Naturally Aspirated V8 Sports Sedan Before They Vanish Forever | Carscoops
It appears that Lexus' performance sedan is reaching its conclusion, with a special Ultimate Edition being launched for 2025.
The IS500 Ultimate Edition continues to feature the 5.0-liter V8 engine, producing 472 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque. Only 500 units will be available, all finished in a unique 'Wind' gray color. Additionally, Lexus has equipped this edition with 19-inch forged BBS wheels and striking red brake calipers.
While the Lexus IS may not have the same prestigious reputation as a BMW M3, it remains an incredibly appealing sports sedan, and its time may be limited. For 2025, Lexus has introduced the IS 500 Ultimate Edition as a tribute to one of the last naturally aspirated V8 performance vehicles in North America. This limited production could represent your last chance to own such a car.
The powertrain remains untouched, featuring the reliable 5.0-liter V8 engine that provides 472 horsepower and 395 lb-ft (535 Nm) of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission directing power to the rear wheels.
Changes for the Ultimate Edition include bright red Brembo brake calipers, distinctive 19-inch forged BBS wheels with a matte black finish, and a new color option called ‘Wind,’ a light metallic gray that appears almost white in the single image shared by Lexus.
Inside, there are updates as well, although Lexus is keeping specific details private for now, aside from the profile image shown. We know the interior has a Circuit Red and Black color scheme, featuring NuLuxe and Ultrasuede-trimmed seats along with a steering wheel reminiscent of the LFA. The shift knob is wrapped in textured leather, accompanied by red seat belts and a serialized badge to signify the exclusivity of this edition. Notable additions also include an updated analog clock with red laser etching and a special animation for the infotainment screen. Full interior images have yet to be released, but they are expected before sales begin later this fall.
Pricing for the IS 500 Ultimate Edition has not yet been disclosed, but it's likely to be priced above the standard IS 500 F Sport Performance, which starts at $60,595. If this marks the end for the Lexus IS, it is indeed a fitting farewell, even if it doesn’t quite achieve the dramatic flair of the Toyota Supra’s Final Edition.
