Subaru has become the latest automaker to announce substantial price increases for its vehicles.

While tariffs were not specifically mentioned, Subaru attributed the changes to “current market conditions.”

One dealership indicated that starting in June, customers will face price hikes ranging from $750 to $2,055.

Ford has also recently raised the prices of the Mexican-manufactured Maverick, Bronco Sport, and Mustang Mach-E. At that time, the company stated that the increases were a part of standard mid-year pricing changes, along with “some tariffs we are facing.”

Although Ford was one of the first to implement price hikes, it was expected they wouldn't be the only ones. This is clearly evident as a Subaru dealer in Massachusetts has announced upcoming price increases. Planet Subaru has noted that vehicles slated for June delivery will see prices rise by as much as $2,055, with variations by model and trim.

The American-manufactured Ascent is projected to see price increases between $1,085 and $2,055, depending on the trim. Similarly, the Forester is expected to rise by $1,075 to $1,600. The outgoing Outback is also set to increase, with prices going up by $1,715 to $1,820.

The Solterra is said to avoid a price hike, whereas the Japanese-made BRZ and WRX will face a $2,000 increase. The Crosstrek and Impreza are anticipated to be $750 more expensive, while the soon-to-be-discontinued Legacy will rise by $1,600.

The dealership noted that these “increases are insufficient to cover tariff costs, leading us to expect further increases before the end of 2025.” That remains uncertain and likely hinges on the outcome of the tariff situation.

When contacted for a statement, the automaker responded that “Subaru of America has adjusted its pricing in response to current market conditions. These changes were implemented to offset rising costs while ensuring a solid value for our customers. Subaru pricing is not influenced by the country of origin of its vehicles.”

This last statement seems aimed at avoiding angering President Donald Trump. Recently, Walmart disclosed that tariffs would force them to raise prices, prompting Trump to respond that the retailer “should STOP trying to blame tariffs as the reason for raising prices throughout the chain.”

Despite seemingly denying that tariffs were to blame for increased costs, Trump suggested Walmart should “absorb the tariffs” and “not charge valued customers anything.” Regardless of his inconsistent statements, he added, “I’ll be watching, and so will your customers!”
