If you haven't heard, the Ford Ranger Raptor is a powerhouse. My friend Andrew reviewed it last March, describing it as an "instant classic," and it was awarded The Drive's Truck of the Year. Its Fox Live Valve suspension is exceptional, complemented by a stylish Watts link rear-end, while the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 packs an impressive 405 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. But what if Ford developed a Ranger Raptor R equipped with a V8?

That's essentially what Killa Conversions and Performance from Australia has achieved with their newly supercharged Coyote V8 swap, boosting the output to 750 hp and 670 lb-ft of torque courtesy of a Roush blower. Notably, this conversion also includes a transmission upgrade to the more robust 10R80, replacing the stock 10R60 found in the Ranger Raptor, Bronco Raptor, and Explorer ST.

While I can't claim to know how this vehicle performs on the road, I imagine it shares similarities with the F-150 Raptor and its Raptor R version. The supercharged, dual overhead cam 5.0-liter engine likely enhances its speed and overall excitement, though it may not necessarily improve performance in most everyday scenarios. Both the F-150 and Ranger Raptor are already quite capable; increasing power can lead to decreased handling and, importantly, balance. However, those willing to invest nearly $57,000 USD beyond the truck's price likely prioritize the V8's power.

It's important to note that this isn't being sold in the U.S., where an F-150 Raptor R retails for $115,000. In Australia, a full-size model like that is priced at around $230,000. Thus, this DIY Ranger Raptor R is a significant deal at an equivalent of $125,000 USD all-inclusive.

The Gen 3 Coyote alone wouldn’t make for a worthwhile swap. While it sounds great and the naturally aspirated V8 produces 460 hp, it actually falls short by 10 lb-ft of torque compared to the 3.0-liter EcoBoost. This is why Killa Conversions and Performance opted for the supercharger; without it, I’d have mixed feelings about this truck.

If you're going to sacrifice the finesse of a factory-built rally vehicle in exchange for increased power, you better ensure it has enough to handle those challenging turns. I’d say that's precisely what they've accomplished here.
