The new Nissan N7 is available with 58 kWh and 73 kWh battery options.

This electric sedan offers a driving range between 510 km and 635 km.

The top-tier models deliver 268 hp from a single electric motor.

Just as it seemed that Nissan might spend the upcoming decade focusing solely on refining CVTs and incorporating artificial engine sounds into its hybrids, they made a surprising move. Last week, Nissan showcased its capability to produce an attractive electric sedan by revealing the N7 at the Shanghai Auto Show. While it does share some components with the Dongfeng eπ 007, it shows great potential and is also very competitively priced.

Following the official launch, Nissan announced that pricing for the N7 in China will start at 199,900 yuan, approximately $16,400 based on current exchange rates. This price allows buyers to purchase the entry-level N7 510 Air.

Sitting above the Air in the series is the N7 510 Pro, starting at 129,900 yuan, or around $17,800. Next is the N7 510 Max, priced at 139,900 yuan ($19,200). As indicated by their names, all three models feature a claimed range of 510 km (317 miles) on the CLTC cycle, powered by a 58 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.

For those requiring additional range, the 73 kWh LFP battery is available in the N7 620 Pro and N7 625 Max, priced at 139,900 yuan ($19,200) and 149,900 yuan ($20,500), respectively. Nissan claims that these versions will achieve 625 km (388 miles) on a single charge, although this figure is based on the CLTC standard, known for its optimistic metrics.

Performance, similar to many Nissan models, is not the primary selling point here. The N7 comes with either 215 horsepower or 268 horsepower, depending on the trim level. It operates on a 400-volt architecture, which helps in maintaining lower costs but limits fast-charging capabilities.

The interior distinctly differs from other Nissan models but resembles many other EVs emerging from China. It features a sizable 15.6-inch infotainment display and a prominent digital instrument cluster. With additional amenities like wireless charging pads, two cupholders, and a two-spoke steering wheel, the cabin reflects a technology-focused, Chinese design influence. Notably, there are very few physical buttons, aside from the limited switches on the steering wheel.

Regarding dimensions, the N7 measures 193.5 inches in length, 74.6 inches in width, and 58.5 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 114.8 inches. In comparison, the last Maxima, which was discontinued about two years ago, was 192.8 inches long, 73.2 inches wide, 56.5 inches tall, and had a wheelbase of 109.3 inches. Thus, the N7 is somewhat longer, noticeably wider, slightly taller, and has a significantly longer wheelbase, which should result in increased cabin space, particularly for rear passengers.
