Citroën's stylish Ami Buggy has transitioned from a limited edition to a fully accessible model within its expanded range across Europe.

The refreshed version maintains the open-air aesthetic and distinctive gold steel wheels of its predecessor.

Additionally, the revamped Ami collection includes LCV (Cargo) and versions that are wheelchair accessible.

Citroen has introduced the updated Ami Buggy – a beach-oriented variation of the urban electric vehicle designed for open-air enjoyment. Unlike the earlier limited edition, the new Ami Buggy is now part of the updated Ami series, providing wider availability.

The design takes inspiration from the concept presented at the 2024 Paris Auto Show, although certain features, like the textured tires and LED bar, were not included in the final model. Nonetheless, the electric vehicle inherits the redesigned front and rear, featuring round lighting units and decorative side vents reminiscent of the 2CV.

The standout element of the Buggy is the absence of traditional doors, replaced with black metal hoops attached to hinges. This setup, inspired by the Wrangler, offers optional zipped covers for inclement weather and includes a retractable sunroof.

Distinctive changes from the regular Ami include a large rear spoiler and the 14-inch steel wheels finished in gold. Regrettably, the previous Ami Buggy's Khaki color is not available in the new model.

The Ami Buggy also comes in a premium version known as the Ami Buggy Palmeira. This variant features black and yellow decals on the wheel arches and greenhouse, complementing the yellow double-chevron logos. Inside, there are yellow accents across various components including storage boxes, a bag hook, floor mats, door nets, and a smartphone holder. Additionally, buyers of the Palmeira receive a small robot figure named Andy, designed with a bobbing head, positioned on the dashboard.

The Citroen Ami Buggy does not see any performance or chassis enhancements compared to the standard Ami. This heavier quadricycle has a maximum speed of 45 km/h (28 mph), powered by an 8 hp electric motor. The 5.5 kWh battery allows for a range of 75 km (47 miles) and can recharge in 4 hours using a standard 220V outlet.

      Expanding the Offerings

The updated Ami lineup also introduces the Ami Cargo LCV and the Ami for All, tailored for wheelchair users. An LCV conversion is available as an aftermarket accessory (Cargo Pack), providing up to 340 liters (12 cubic feet) of storage space inside the vehicle.

Regarding the regular variant, Citroen offers three Color Packs – Spicy, Icy, and Minty – for enhanced personalization, which owners can install themselves, including colorful wheel covers, decals, and interior accents.

Orders for the refreshed Citroen Ami lineup will commence on May 6th across Europe, with starting prices at €7,990 ($9,100) for the Ami, and €8,390 ($9,500) for the Ami Color Pack. The adventurous Citroen Ami Buggy is priced from €9,590 ($10,900), while the flagship Palmeira variant starts at €9,990 ($11,400). Since the original Ami's debut in 2020, Citroen has sold 75,000 units across 18 markets.
