Trump's extensive tariffs seem to have temporarily halted the QX50 and QX55 crossovers in the United States.

According to reports, Infiniti has ceased taking new orders for the QX50 and QX55 in America. Both models are produced in Mexico, with the QX50 being one of Infiniti's key offerings.

Nissan has changed its decision and will maintain two shifts at its Tennessee plant.

The ongoing tariffs imposed by President Trump continue to cause disruptions, leading Infiniti to reportedly pause new U.S. orders for the QX50 and QX55. Both vehicles are manufactured in Mexico, alongside the Mercedes GLB.

This decision is tied to a 25% tariff on automotive imports, but production for other markets is expected to persist. Nonetheless, earlier reports have hinted at the possibility of the crossovers being discontinued in December.

Additionally, Nissan is rumored to be discontinuing the production of Infiniti SUVs made in Mexico by December.

Both models are past their prime, as the second-generation QX50 debuted at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, while the QX55 launched a few years later but failed to gain traction with consumers, selling only 3,721 units in the U.S. last year.

In contrast, the QX50 was Infiniti’s second best-selling vehicle, only behind the QX60. Its absence will be notable, but reports indicate Infiniti may receive a rebadged version of the Nissan Rogue.

On that note, Nissan recently stated that an all-new Rogue will go into production in FY2026, featuring an internal combustion engine, a plug-in hybrid powertrain, and an e-Power system.

Infiniti has also revealed plans for a new QX65 crossover coupe and an electric SUV, with the latter set to debut in FY2028 and influenced by the Vision QXe concept.

Returning to the Rogue, Nissan has reassessed its production strategy for the current model in Smyrna, Tennessee. Although the company was anticipated to reduce one shift at the plant this month, it opted to maintain "more localized volume" in the U.S. that is exempt from auto tariffs.
