Zenvo is developing a new supercar and has just revealed the engine that will power it.

This engine is the most powerful production V12 in history, generating a total output of 1,850 hp.

To achieve this power, it employs four turbochargers combined with a hybrid system.

The Danish supercar manufacturer Zenvo may not be widely recognized, but it has been diligently working on a remarkable project. Named Aurora, this endeavor has been in progress for some time, allowing us to be aware of the V12 engine for almost two years.

The team continues to target an output of 1,850 horsepower (1,379 kW), and now we are gaining insight into their approach to meet this goal. The outcome is the most powerful V12 ever installed in a production vehicle.

Additionally, Zenvo is creating a smaller and "more affordable" $2 million hypercar.

This powertrain, aptly named Mjølner after Thor's hammer, integrates four turbochargers with a hybrid system. It can rev up to 9,800 RPM and utilizes Mahle Jet Ignition technology to regulate emissions. Zenvo asserts that it has prioritized road usability, a priority that may seem unusual for a vehicle boasting such immense power. Nevertheless, even without the hybrid components, the engine alone produces 1,250 hp (932 kW), which should feel more than sufficient for most drivers.

Nonetheless, Zenvo aims for anything but "sufficient." To elevate the experience further, they are placing this engine in the lightest car they've ever manufactured. According to Jens Sverdrup, Chairman of Zenvo Automotive, the goal revolves around enhancing the driving experience.

“A key aspect of the Aurora program is focused on creating an emotional connection for drivers and passengers, designed to engage the senses,” Sverdrup explains. “Sound and visceral drama will define Aurora, and the engine will play a crucial role in this, which we will amplify to the maximum. At Zenvo, we are true enthusiasts, and having a V12 engine is a rare occasion, making it a proud and thrilling moment to finally unveil Mjølner.”

“The fact that it is the world’s most powerful road car engine wasn’t our initial objective, but emerged from our efforts to push the boundaries of what’s feasible. This represents a significant milestone, and the next steps will allow us to see—and hear!—it come alive. This engine has been engineered to excel at every level, showcasing the advancements we continue to achieve.”

Looking at the design, this engine resembles a masterpiece. The turbos are relatively compact and tightly positioned between the two banks of cylinders in a “hot V” layout. The heat shielding that ensures proper operation covers much of the engine’s surface. It will undoubtedly evoke strong emotions when it makes its debut in the Aurora.

Zenvo reports that the first Aurora has already been constructed and is presently undergoing testing. If luck is on our side, we will hear its roar soon.
