The Panther Pink paint added $29,995 to the already substantial MSRP of $150,946 for the Jailbreak model.
Only 40 units of the Jailbreak were manufactured, each one finished in a distinct, exclusive color.
This unique Demon 170 Jailbreak was auctioned with just 36 miles on its odometer.
The Challenger SRT Demon 170 is already a notable entry in Dodge’s muscle car lineup, but the company discreetly created an even more exclusive variant: the Jailbreak edition.
While anyone with sufficient funds could technically order a standard Demon 170, the Jailbreak version was limited to a select group—only 40 buyers handpicked by Dodge were given the opportunity to purchase one. Each of these 40 vehicles left the factory with a unique, one-off paint finish, ensuring that no two are the same. No duplicates or repeats.
In collector circles, rarity is not just an advantage, it’s a valuable asset. This likely explains why, despite some regular Demon 170s facing challenges in finding buyers at recent auctions, one of these extremely rare Jailbreak editions recently fetched an impressive $450,000. Let that figure resonate for a moment.
One Color, One Car
Those who took Dodge up on the offer to buy a Jailbreak could select from 20 legacy colors in the brand’s lineup and 20 newer hues. Only one of each color was made. This particular model is painted in Panther Pink, a color Dodge previously offered in the 1970s for the Challenger. The unique paint finish added $29,995 to the vehicle's price tag, making it seem like a deal considering the original cost of $150,946.
The car was listed on Bring a Trailer, having been purchased earlier this year by the dealership selling it. There is no information regarding its original sale price or if the $450K auction price generated a profit, but given that the odometer reads only 36 miles, it’s likely it was bought as an investment. The ultimate muscle car appears to be in pristine condition, with no visible imperfections or signs of usage.
Same Power, Flashier Paint
Mechanically, the Jailbreak is the same as any other Demon 170. It features a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that runs on E85, delivering an astonishing 1,025 horsepower and 945 lb-ft of torque, all directed to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. There were no changes made to the drivetrain—this model emphasizes exclusivity and aesthetics.
It would be exciting to imagine this vehicle racing down the quarter-mile, but realistically speaking, with only 36 miles on the clock and a price that could buy you a family home in most areas, it’s likely destined for long-term storage. Perhaps it will be showcased at a Cars & Coffee event in five years. Or more likely, it will aim to exceed the six-figure mark at future auctions.
