The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, powered by a V12 engine, is a direct competitor to the Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider.

Equipped with an impressive 824 hp V12 and capable of reaching a top speed of 211 mph, the new Vanquish Volante features a retractable fabric roof that enhances its attractive proportions and reveals the two-seater interior. Compared to the coupe, this convertible has gained an additional weight of 95 kg (209 lbs).

Aston Martin has recently revealed the convertible version of the Vanquish, designated as the Volante, in celebration of its 60th anniversary. This new model matches the coupe as the fastest and most powerful front-engined production car available, while also providing the advantages of open-air driving.

Underneath the hood, the Vanquish houses a twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 engine that produces a formidable 824 hp (614 kW / 835 PS) and 737 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. The power is delivered to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with a transaxle and an E-diff.

The chassis has been strengthened to compensate for the absence of a fixed roof, yet the weight increase remains minimal at 95 kg (209 lbs) compared to the coupe. With changed weight distribution, Aston Martin's engineers have recalibrated the suspension using adaptive Bilstein DTX dampers.

In contrast to other convertible variants of fixed-roof coupes, the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante achieves the same impressive top speed of 214 mph (344 km/h) as its coupe counterpart. This designation makes it the fastest front-engine convertible, compared to the rival Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider, which reaches a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h). However, the convertible is slightly slower from a complete stop, achieving the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in 3.4 seconds, whereas the Ferrari does it in 2.95 seconds.

While aesthetics may be subjective, Volante models from Aston Martin often exude more allure than their coupe variants, and the new Vanquish Volante exemplifies this. The retractable fabric roof enhances its proportions and highlights the sculpted lines of its profile.

The newly designed rear deck forgoes the integrated ducktail spoiler found on the coupe, presenting a more understated look. Notably, the K-fold roof can be stowed beneath the tonneau cover in just 14 seconds, opening up the two-seater cabin to the outside. Aston Martin claims the fabric roof features acoustic enhancements and provides similar thermal insulation as the coupe.

The interior of the two-seater is retained from the Vanquish, featuring an additional switch for roof operation and a new button for quick access to ADAS controls. Amenities include dual 10.25-inch screens and a specially tuned 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system.

Standard Sport Plus Seats can optionally be replaced with carbon fiber Performance Seats. Other appealing options include a lighter and louder Titanium exhaust system and a saddle leather luggage set, considering this is a grand tourer.

Buyers enjoy access to numerous customization options, including bespoke components, through the Q by Aston Martin division.

The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante is now available for order, with initial deliveries expected in Q3 2025. However, production will be limited, with the entire Vanquish lineup capping production at fewer than 1,000 units annually.
