Reviving the F40 with a manual transmission and featuring Hamilton's signature could lead to the complete allocation being sold out in just seconds.

The renowned British driver’s ideal Ferrari road car might be called the F44 and could soon be a reality.

Last year, rumors emerged suggesting that Ferrari might bring back the F40 as part of its Icona series.

A new Ferrari F40 could pave the way following the Monza SP1/SP2 and Daytona SP3.

Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion, has only been with Ferrari for a few months but is already looking beyond the F1 schedule. The British driver expressed his desire to create a road version of the iconic F40, potentially named the F44.

Hamilton shared this ambition during a media interaction at the recent Australian Grand Prix. While he did not confirm if Ferrari has officially sanctioned his plans, his public discussions imply that he has likely held conversations with his new team about the initiative.

One of his goals is to design a Ferrari, stating, “I want to do an F44. The foundation would be an F40, featuring an actual manual transmission. That’s what I’ll be focusing on in the coming years.”

This vision aligns with speculations from late last year that Ferrari might reconsider the F40. In November, Top Gear reported from unnamed sources that a revamped F40 could potentially be among the limited-run Icona models from the Italian manufacturer, taking cues from the Monza SP1 and SP2, as well as the Daytona SP3, while reflecting the last vehicle personally authorized by Enzo Ferrari.

However, reviving such a vehicle would undoubtedly spark significant debate if not executed correctly, as Ferrari must ensure it meets the expectations of its legendary forebear.

Nevertheless, Hamilton's involvement in the project could lead to a fruitful outcome. Affluent enthusiasts would undoubtedly be eager to acquire a car that is either personally designed or developed by one of the greatest F1 drivers in history. If this vehicle turns out to be a modern version of the F40, complete with a manual gearbox, Ferrari can expect to sell out the entire allocation within seconds.
