Tesla Has Fewer Than 50 Old Model Ys Remaining, Standard Juniper Release Approaching | Carscoops
Buyers waiting for the new Model Y but not interested in the fully-loaded Launch Edition are about to see their hopes fulfilled.
As of now, the Model Y Juniper has only been accessible in the Launch Edition in the United States.
However, the stock of the pre-facelift Model Y is rapidly declining, with very few remaining for sale.
Tesla appears to be gearing up to introduce the "standard" versions of the revamped Model Y in the country.
Time is running out for those still holding out for the outgoing version of the Model Y—whether it's due to its appearance or the significant discounts of nearly $9,000. Tesla still has a limited number left, but currently, there are fewer than 50 available nationwide, indicating that the regular Model Y Juniper is likely imminent. This number has varied since the weekend, bouncing between 40 and 190, so it’s advisable not to get too comfortable.
Early adopters have experienced the Model Y Juniper, but it has been restricted to the Launch Edition trim thus far. As you would expect from something labeled "Launch Edition," it's on the pricier side, with a base price of $59,990. The premium covers numerous extra features—including exclusive paint colors and the $7,500 Full Self-Driving option, which is included at no additional cost. But at least you receive all the premium features.
In other regions, the "normal" versions of the refreshed Model Y are already available. However, in the US, Model Y purchasers only have two choices: pay a premium for the fully-equipped Juniper Launch Edition or purchase one of the remaining old versions still available in Tesla's inventory, as orders for the pre-facelift model are no longer being taken.
As per Tesla-Info, only 43 pre-facelift vehicles remain in the country, suggesting that Tesla is likely preparing to launch the "normal" Model Y Juniper. Interested buyers will certainly appreciate this news.
The updated Model Y 'Juniper' has undergone considerable changes compared to its predecessor. While the overall size remains nearly the same, the exterior design is significantly different. The new model features a lighting design similar to that of the Cybertruck, with sleeker curves. The interior has also seen improvements, with higher-quality materials, additional screens, LEDs, ventilated front seats, and more.
That said, if you're holding out for a deal on the older model, now is the time to act. Currently, the Standard Range versions are sold out, but there are still 10 Long Range AWD models and 33 Performance variants available across the country, with discounts ranging from $1,610 to $8,750.
As previously noted, the older 470 hp Model Y Performance is extraordinarily fast and highly practical. And with a starting price of around $32K—if you qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit and any state-level EV incentives—it offers great value for what you get. If you're considering it, now might be the perfect moment to secure one before they're all sold out, unless you're set on the Juniper.
