The legendary 911 Turbo is set to go hybrid, potentially delivering a significant performance enhancement.

Spy photographers have captured images of the facelifted Porsche 911 Turbo S while it was testing on the Nürburgring.

The updated coupe features new bumpers, a modified exhaust system, and redesigned air intakes.

A hybrid powertrain incorporating an electric motor within the transmission is anticipated.

Last autumn, Porsche announced that the revamped 911 Turbo family would enter production in the latter half of 2025, confirming it would be equipped with a hybrid powertrain akin to that of the GTS.

Fast forward to the present, and spy photographers have caught an undisguised prototype being tested at the Nürburgring. Dressed with fake daytime running light stickers, the updated coupe showcases an evolutionary front bumper with more prominent intakes featuring vertical slats, alongside new headlights and other minor revisions.

Significant modifications can be seen at the rear, where the design has been overhauled. It now includes vertical vents at the outer edges and a new quad exhaust system. Additionally, a new center section, ribbed accents, and altered reflectors can also be observed.

In addition to these visible changes, the vehicle will likely come with new wheels and an updated interior. This interior is expected to include a 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch infotainment display, and updated controls.

Porsche has been somewhat secretive about specifics, but the current 911 Turbo is powered by a twin-turbo 3.7-liter flat-six engine, generating 572 hp (427 kW / 580 PS) and 553 lb-ft (749 Nm) of torque. The Turbo S enhances these figures to 640 hp (477 kW / 649 PS) and 590 lb-ft (799 Nm).

Despite the company's discreet approach, the 911 GTS provides some hints regarding what to expect. It features a newly developed 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, a 1.9 kWh battery, and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that includes an electric motor capable of producing up to 54 hp (40 kW / 54 PS) and 110 lb-ft (149 Nm) of torque. This configuration allows the model to achieve a total output of 532 hp (397 kW / 539 PS) and 449 lb-ft (608 Nm).

When the GTS was launched, Porsche indicated it represented a boost of 59 hp (44 kW / 60 PS) compared to its predecessor. Should the Turbo lineup see a similar increase, we could anticipate an output nearing 700 hp (522 kW / 710 PS).
