Audi has shared information regarding the US version of the 2025 A5 sedan, which takes over from the previous A4 model.
The four-door liftback begins at $48,995, an increase from the A4's starting price of $45,395, which also included destination fees.
The A5 is equipped with a 2.0-liter, 268 hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while the S5 features a 3.0-liter V6 engine delivering 362 hp.
Midway through the 2025 model year, the A5 has succeeded the A4 in Audi’s compact sedan range, bringing with it a price increase. The new base model starts at $48,995, which includes a $1,295 destination fee, representing a $3,600 rise compared to the cost of the A4.
Conversely, the new A5 is $2,400 more expensive than the 2024 A5 Sportback sedan, which it effectively replaces and is conceptually similar to.

Both A5 variants feature liftback designs and sporty fastback aesthetics, while the A4, which remains available on Audi's website starting at $45,395, is a conventional notchback sedan. A wagon version is offered in Europe but not for the US market.
Similar to the A4, the 2025 A5 features a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four engine and employs Quattro all-wheel drive through a dual-clutch transmission. The A5 generates 268 hp (272 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque, compared to the A4’s specifications of 261 hp (265 PS) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm). Despite having more power, the new A5 is slower, with a 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) time of 5.6 seconds, up from the previous 5.2 seconds.
Almost 370 hp for the S5
The performance-oriented S5 replaces the four-cylinder engine with a V6, producing an impressive 362 hp (367 PS) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm), up from the previous S4's 349 hp (354 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm).
In addition to increased power, the new A5 and S5 are larger in size, measuring 2.6 inches (66 mm) longer and 0.5 inch wider (13 mm) than the A4, with 2.8 inches (71 mm) of additional rear legroom for a more spacious interior.
Audi has announced only the starting price of $48,995 so far, withholding prices for other models. However, we know that Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trims will be offered, with the higher trims featuring Audi's new customizable digital front DRLs and OLED taillights as options.
Additional tech options include a 10.9-inch display for the front passenger and the dynamic interaction light (IAL), an LED strip that spans the dashboard and provides the driver with status updates on features such as door locking and turn signals.
Audi has indicated that the complete A5 and S5 lineup will reach US dealerships by the end of the second quarter. This will soon be followed by the new A6, which was initially set to be named A7 as part of Audi's strategy to assign even numbers to electric vehicles and odd numbers to combustion models. However, this plan was scrapped due to customer confusion, and the A6 successor will retain the current model's name.
