Kia's Road-Ready PV5 Resembles Last Year's Concept | Carscoops

Pricing information for the Kia PV5 will be revealed as it approaches its market launch.

The South Korean automaker has not yet disclosed the technical specifications for the electric vehicle.

A variety of configurations will be available to cater to diverse customer preferences.

All PV5 variants are expected to feature Vehicle-to-Load and Vehicle-to-Grid capabilities.

It has been over a year since Kia introduced the PV5 Concept at CES, and now, it has presented the production version of the all-electric van ahead of its global debut on February 27. Similar to many recent Kia models, the production variant closely resembles the striking concept that preceded it.

Kia will manufacture and sell both passenger and cargo versions of the PV5. While they share a mostly similar design, there are notable differences. Both models feature bold front fascias with distinct LED daytime running lights that extend downward from the base of the windshield. There is no traditional grille; instead, there is a charging flap prominently placed in the center of the PV5’s front. The main headlamps are located on either side of this charging port.

The windows on both the passenger and cargo versions of the PV5 are notably large, akin to the Hyundai Staria, contributing to a spacious and airy cabin feel. The production model includes robust door handles that were absent in the original concept. The cargo variant, however, eliminates the rear side windows and incorporates twin side-opening tailgate doors for convenient loading and unloading.

Despite the unconventional front design of the Kia PV5, the rear resembles a typical van with vertical LED taillights and large doors.

Kia indicates that the PV5 will be available in numerous configurations and that additional versions, beyond the passenger and cargo models, are being developed. There will also be specialized conversion options, allowing customers to customize their PV5 according to their specific needs.

Sadly, Kia has not yet revealed the completed interior of the PV5 or provided details about the electric powertrain. It is anticipated to be available in single and dual-motor configurations, with Vehicle-to-Load and Vehicle-to-Grid compatibility. All models will utilize Kia’s Electric Complete Chassis Platform Module (e-CCPM) platform.
